The Publication
The publication Material Acts: Experimentation in Architecture and
Design accompanies and shares a name with the exhibition, offering a
companion space that delves into the research
shown in the galleries. The publication is organized
around the same five thematic material acts of the exhibition: Animating,
Disassembling, Feeding, Re-fusing, and Stitching.
Content formats
include commissioned essays, photography, how-to-guides, and
conversations featuring exn the exhibition’s scope. 

A limited number of special-edition catalog pulications will include an exclusive box of material samples. This unique addition allows readers to physically experience some of the experimental materials featured in the exhibition, oering a tangible connection to the work and deepening their understanding of contemporary material practices.

The Library is Open is a lunchtime series featuring recently published works and their authors, curated by Bart-Jan Polman, Director of Exhibitions and Public Programming and Curator of the Arthur Ross Architecture Gallery at Columbia GSAPP. Hosted in a central location in Avery Hall, the LiO series honors GSAPP’s historical connection to Avery Library, the world’s largest Architecture library.

Material Acts is a collaboration between e-flux Architecture and Craft Contemporary within the context of the eponymous exhibition, curated by Kate Yeh Chiu and Jia Yi Gu as part of Getty PST ART: Art & Science Collide, featuring contributions by Jennifer Johung, Mae-Ling Lokko, Elsa MH Mäki, Zofia Trafas White, and Amy Zhang.
